Purple Light Touch is a unique Non-Profit Massage Organization. The concept was created and organized by Founder, President and CEO, Valerie Kelso-Washington. Her vision was inspired while working as a Massage Therapists at JaVintee Massage, where she also serves as Vice-President and Manager. Her main reason for developing the idea was the direct result of dealing with a variety of clients from all walks of life, who expressed many times a need to vent and talk to her while lying on her table about very personal issues regarding their mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well being. There were so many hurting women who had come in with burdens often times to heavy to carry on their own, that it was becoming apparent that something would have to be done.

While receiving a massage, many women would open up their hearts to entrust Valerie and other therapists with sensitive issues surrounding their lives.  These therapeutic sessions would have limitations due to the proximity with adjacent rooms, and therefore create somewhat of an imposition in their venting moments. So, to give them a more therapeutic environment, where deep issues could be discussed, and the client could utilize the forum as a trusted confidential sounding board to cry, or feel a sense of freedom to express their hurt and grief,  the founder decided to open a facility where these women could have access to that venue of expression.  This was made possible by generous donations of individuals and groups who shared the vision of wanting these women to have that opportunity.  Additionally, these donations from individuals and groups allow the women the blessing of receiving a free massage while recovering from cancer, or recovering from an abusive situation.

Our goal at PLT is to help hurting women recover from their past hurt. If we can do this and just change a few lives by allowing the Lord to use us, we can achieve great things because the Lord did not give us a spirit of fear. Imagine giving a woman that freedom to be who she would like to be, and want to be, by bringing up her self-esteem. How much better would she be?  A happy wife or mother will bring forth a happy home.

If it means working for free sometimes, then God will give us the strength and finances we need to make a difference in these women's lives.

That hurting woman, one day could be your mother, sister, a family member, a co-worker or a friend.  Through your generous donation, and others like you, Purple Light Touch will be able to continue this journey of touching these women's lives.  Wouldn't you like to know that because of your generosity you have made a significant impact in the lives of these women who are going through a stormy time in their lives. You may make your donation or sponsorship at PLT here online by just simply clicking on the bottom of this page.

Violence Against Women

Domestic violence...there is nothing domestic about being abused. What does the word domestic mean? The adjective describes taking care of your household affairs. When used as a noun the word domestic refers to hired help. Being beaten by a man or woman is not taking care of the home, but the opposite. When a man or woman puts their hands on you in a home setting, it is termed domestic violence. Violence is violence. Statistics say one in three of us reading this article have been abused in one way or another. Whether it's verbal, physical, mental or even spiritual. How do we stop the abuse?  When do we decide to get off our merry go round and say enough is enough and end the abusive relationship? We can get off if we choose to or we can allow our abuser to continue and possibly cause us to become a fatality and statistic.

I am one of the lucky one, because I’m here sharing my story. My family said to me the other day, "do you remember this incident of the knife attack?" I said no. With the amount of beatings I received I should be dead. I can honestly say I don’t even remember the majority of the beatings I received.  And I asked the Lord, "why did I not remember?" And it was like I heard His voice saying, “how can you remember something I took for you”. All I could say was "Wow"… the overdose, the six-hour beating causing me to lose my baby, the broken jawbone, nearly losing my sight in my left eye, the list goes on and on. All while not being able to let anyone know what I was going through. You soon learn to become an actress. You see my beating started at an early age.

If Cane could kill his own brother, and that was his own flesh and blood what do you think he could do to you? You need to know abuse is not your fault. Men have being dealing with anger management for a long time. Why is it that an abuser can turn into a murderer? Able was killed by Cane and they were brothers. How many men and women walking around with the seed of Cane.

Cancer and the effects it has on your body,

When setting up PLT, it was designed for women who have been abused, but Jesus had other plans. I was instructed to put in PLT a room for women recovering from Cancer, and then it began to make more sense to me. What I did not realize Domestic violence can lead into women getting Cancer even though they might think they have gotten over there abuser. The years of being abused can play a long-lasting effect upon your body, because your immune system has becomes compromised.

Looking back now it made sense to me back in England I personally knew two women who died of breast cancer. These women had gone through personal trauma in their marriage with their husband. My best friend was healthy chewed her food forty times walked everyday and lived and eat right. So why did she died? When her husband left her for her sister in-law there was a devastating blow to her body and her immune system was compromized and within three years she was dead, the same thing happened to another one of my friend same scenario. I have seen many women come through JaVintee massage that have needed my help in releasing scar tissues many women don’t know the importance of not having scar tissue building up in their bodies, or the importance of keeping their lymphatic system clear. Having blockage in any part of the body can become detrimental to the body.

However because of me working at JaVintee Massage, hearing and seeing what these cancer Survivors have gone through; I have a better understand why the Lord wanted me to add Cancer to the List

Lymphatic drainage is a very slow, light-touch, rhythmic massage that helps the body move lymph throughout the lymphatic vessels. It reduces edema and is described as removing toxins and boosting immunity.

Scar tissues and how Massage Therapy helps with pain, swelling, and healing time!

Scar Tissue is caused by fibrous connective tissue that has begun to heal from surgery, injury or disease. The scars are often raised and dense because of limited blood supply. Function and sensation may also be limited. Why it is good to get a massage and allow they lymphatic system to flow easily.
